What we're looking for
Photographs
Portraits, weddings, villages, churches, schools, work, travel and everyday life, at any age.
Documents
Letters, passports, newspapers, church records, school certificates and books.
Recordings
Songs, sermons, radio programs, oral histories and interviews with elders.
Film & video
Home movies, community events, festivals and documentaries.
How it works
1. Get in touch
Email a few phone photos of what you have, or scans if you already made them. Originals never need to leave your home.
2. We digitize & describe
We'll help with scanning, then write up who, where and when together with you.
3. Published & credited
Your items go live with your family's name as the source, and a colorized version if you'd like one.
We'll always ask before publishing photos of living people, and you can ask us to change or remove anything you shared at any time.
Know something about a photo?
Many items have only a short caption from the institution that holds them. If you recognize a person, a village, a church or an event, open the item and use Do you recognize someone or something here? or email us. Names and family stories are the most valuable thing you can add.
