Iraq Levy with raised dagger, photographed by Cecil Beaton, 1942
A Levy soldier in an embroidered jacket, sash and head-cloth raises a dagger, photographed by Cecil Beaton in 1942. IWM's caption calls him "a spectacularly robed and turbaned Iraqi Levi"; the Levies were then largely Assyrian, but the caption does not say so.
