About thirty young men in suits posed in rows, captioned "The Persian Christian Benevolent Society, Chicago, Ill." The book says Rev. N. G. Malech organized the society in 1906 to gather the young "Syrians" (Assyrians) of Chicago regardless of church, that it met first at a Methodist church on La Salle Avenue, then the Fourth Presbyterian Church and then St. James Episcopal Church, and helped members find work. Officers named: Rev. N. G. Malech, president; Y. Y. Malech, vice-president; J. Elwaz, general secretary; A. N. Latchen, assistant secretary; J. Benjamin, treasurer.
