Two deacons read from a lectern by candlelight during a service in the Syriac Orthodox church in Hengelo, where about 150 Christians from Turkey gathered in January 1981 in support of a couple whose asylum request had been refused. The Anefo caption calls the congregation "Turken" (Turks), the usual Dutch term then for Syriac Christians from Turkey.
