Two women of the Syriac quarter of Bethlehem, about 1905
Studio portrait of two women from the Syriac quarter of Bethlehem (Hawsh al-Siryan), one carrying a basket on her head and the other a water jar. The uploader dates it to about 1905 and notes that the quarter was founded by Syriac Orthodox people from Tur Abdin and grew with refugees of 1915. Small copy; a sharper original is likely in the Matson collection.
