Half-length portrait captioned "Abr. Yohannan" from a 1899 directory of Columbia University men. The accompanying sketch says he was born in Urmia in 1853, taught at the Urmia mission college, came to New York, was ordained in the Episcopal church and lectured in Oriental languages at Columbia.
